loving, generous father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Talmadge "T.C." Chesney has joined his dear, departed wife of 70 years, and the love of his life. Born to William Otto and Ida Ledford Chesney in 1923 in Cowpens, South Carolina, Talmadge grew up on a working farm. At age 18, he left home to join the Navy. After serving during WWII in the South Pacific, T.C., and his new bride Alberta, began building a life together in South Carolina. Eventually two sons were born and T.C. made a career in civil service, working for both Army and Air force. His work carried him and his family to Columbia, Sumter and Hampton, Virginia. Along the way, T.C. never lost his love for golf, writing stories, telling jokes, and pulling for his beloved Gamecocks. Known to his family as "Pa," T.C. is survived by sons Dean and Larry; Grandsons Scott, Andrew, Daniel and Samuel; and great-grandson, Jonathon. Services will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel in Greenville, SC, 3 pm Tuesday, May 24th. Visitation will be held at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Chesney requested that donations be made to Epworth Children's Home, 2900 Millwood Ave., Columbia SC 29250 -Arrangements under the direction of Woodlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park, Greenville, SC.
