Gene was born to Henry Irvin Willis and Azilee Edwards Willis at home weighing 14 pounds on December 4, 1938. He was blessed with one sister Margie Lee who preceded him in death.
He leaves behind two children Sharon Lynn Prince and Darren Keith Willis, one grandson Jeff (Sera) Willis, seven granddaughters and six great grandchildren who affectionately called him Papa.
Gene was employed at John D. Hollingsworth until retirement in 2007 and was a devoted member of Earle Street Baptist Church and the Don Kirkland "Loaves and Fishes" Sunday School class.
A visitation for Gene will be held at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at 1 Pine Knoll Drive Greenville SC 29609 at 11am on Friday, November 21, followed by a funeral service at 12pm led by Interim Pastor Gary Strickland of Earle Street Baptist Church and Minister Debbie Roper. A burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens at 7784 Augusta Road Piedmont SC 29673.
