Wilbur "Sonny" Melton Richardson, 86, of Taylors, SC, loving husband of Marilyn Burgin Richardson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville.
Born in Columbia, SC, he was a son of the late Wilbur Rogers and Lula Melton Richardson. Wilbur enjoyed golfing and watching sports, especially Carolina Gamecocks Football and Atlanta Braves Baseball. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, and was very musically talented and made acoustic guitars. Wilbur was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Greenville.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Debra Richardson Ross of Greenville, SC and Ellen Richardson Glymph of Mauldin, SC; two grandchildren, Daniel Glenn Glymph (Brittany) of Johnson City, TN, and Mary Elizabeth Ross of Greenville, SC; two great-grandchildren, Brayden Glenn Glymph and Luca David Glymph both of Johnson City, TN; one niece, Mary Gene Singleton of North Myrtle Beach, SC; one Nephew, Jerry Minick of Anchorage, AK; three step-children, April Putman, Shaun Herman, and Chris Herman (Melissa); and six step grandchildren, Madison Putman, Mary Putman, Triston Herman, McKenzie Herman, Morgan Herman, and Bailey Herman.
In addition to his parents, Wilbur is preceded in death by his sister Syderist Minick.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 910 Hudson Road, Greenville, SC 29615.
