Born in Los Reyes, Michoacán, Mexico, Tony was the son of Herlinda Galvan & Antonio Santos. He grew up in Cotija De La Paz, Michoacán, México. At the age of 17, Antonio moved to Greenwich, CT where he raised his loving family, including his children Veronica Stephanie Santos, Maria de Jesus Santos, and Anthony Alexander Santos. Antonio’s children were his world, and he selflessly worked hard to give them the opportunities he may have lacked as a child. Antonio instilled in his children many virtues, including the importance of giving to those less fortunate.
Antonio was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Greenwich. As a hobby, Antonio shared with his children a deep love of sports, particularly soccer. Antonio was a lifetime fan of Club America soccer team and the Mexican National Team and would never miss a game. Antonio also played competitive soccer until his late 30s and was known in the community as a formidable player. Antonio also enjoyed running, watching the 49ers and the New England Patriots (of whom he was a fan thanks to his children), and spending quality time with his family.
Antonio had a huge heart and a passion for helping those around him. For example, he started working in elementary school in order to help his family put food on the table. When he was older, he often economically supported his siblings and family members in their times of need. Antonio’s kindness and willingness to help his family and others less fortunate transcended his passing. As his last gift to those in need, Antonio donated vital organs to give life to others in his community.
Antonio is survived by his children Veronica Stephanie Santos, Maria de Jesus Santos & Anthony Alexander Santos; siblings Francisco Santos, Lidia Mendoza & Alicia Lua; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Herlinda Galvan and his brother Rafael Santos.
