Born on March 11, 1932, in Gill, Massachusetts, Germaine grew up in western Massachusetts and graduated as valedictorian of her high school. She attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and completed her training at Mercy Hospital School of Medical Technology. She built a career in this field, continuing her profession in Atlanta after moving there in 1966, where she spent most of her life. Over the years, she also resided in Middletown, Connecticut; Saratoga Springs, New York; and Charlotte, North Carolina. In 2022, she relocated to Stamford to be closer to family.
A devoted Roman Catholic, Germaine generously volunteered at her parish church, assisting with Masses. Later in life, she discovered a passion for painting and became an excellent artist. She embraced community life at the Senior Center in Atlanta, where she spent many joyful hours learning and participating in activities like Mah Jongg, forging connections and staying active. Germaine loved to travel and delighted in the simple beauties of life—she had a deep affection for dogs and cats, tended plants and flowers with care, and found great joy in nurturing all that grew and thrived around her.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jack Moriarty, in 1989; her parents, George Galipault and Antoinette Galipault; her sister, Christine Sumner; and others close to her heart.
Germaine is survived by her two sons, John M. Moriarty, Jr. (Leslie), and Daniel A. Moriarty; her grandchildren, Andrew Moriarty (Kiana), Michael Moriarty, Laura Galleshaw (Mike), Kevin Moriarty, and Jackson Moriarty; and her great-grandchildren, Harper, Cillian, and Josephine.
Friends and family are welcome to arrive at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home in Greenwich, Connecticut, with the service beginning at 12 noon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Solutions for Animals, Inc. (www.solutionsforanimals.org/donate) in Germaine's memory.
Germaine will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and the love she shared with her family and all who knew her.
