Harry J. Devitt, age 77, a lifelong resident of Greenwich passed away at home on May 6, 2010. Harry was born in Greenwich, the son of the late Kathleen King Devitt and Patrick John Devitt. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Ann Ryan Devitt and brother Patrick John Devitt, Jr. He is survived by his son Timothy of Greenwich, son Daniel and wife Rachel and grandchildren Crosson and Lula of Locust Grove, GA, sister Kathleen Devitt Moretti of Greenwich as well as nephews Kevin Devitt of Kapaa, HI, Patrick Moretti of Greenwich and Suzanne Moretti. A graduate of Greenwich High School, Harry served in the US Marine Corps from 1951 – 1953. He was a parishioner of St. Mary’s church in Greenwich. Harry was a member of the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 777 and worked as a school crossing guard in Greenwich for the past 10 years. A wake will be held at Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home, 31 Arch Street Greenwich on Tuesday, May 11th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, May 12th at 10:00am at St. Mary’s Church Greenwich Avenue. Internment will immediately follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Greenwich.
