
Helen Napoli Cabrera, 75, died peacefully at her home in Old Greenwich, Ct. on November 12, 2011 after a brief battle with cancer. While at home she was constantly surrounded by the love of her family and friends.
She was born on March 10, 1936 to Anthony and Helen Napoli in Easton, PA. She graduated from Easton High School and received her degree from Rider University, where she met her husband Jim.
Helen was a Wife, Mother, Poet, Author and avid golfer. She spent the last 38 years of her life in Old Greenwich and winters in Stuart, Florida at Mariner Sands.
Among her many philanthropic endeavors, she served as Secretary on the Board of the National League of American Pen Women. She collaborated with Rider college and endowed a scholarship in her parent's name and was an active member of the Greenwich Point Conservancy. She also chaired the James C Cabrera Memorial scholarship fund, a foundation she started in honor of her husband that gives an annual scholarship to a member of the GHS football team. She was a member of Innis Arden Golf Club, Greenwich Country club and Mariner Sands.
Helen authored 4 books creatively journaling her journey through life, loss and love. She was just completing her 5th book. Her talent as a poet will live on in her amazing works.
Helen was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, James C. Cabrera. She is survived by her sons Joseph and James, along with Mary Pat Greeff and Ginge Cabrera, as well as The joys of her life, her 7 Grandchildren, Jimmy, Tyler, Brooke, Peter, Katie, Jake, and Caroline, all of Greenwich CT. She is also survived by her loving sister , Virginia Bartolet and her husband Terry of Easton, PA along with her niece Lora Levin, and nephews Daniel Bartolet and Terry Allen Bartolet, as well as her loving companion Bob Bailey.
Visitation will be held on Sunday November 13th from 4-7pm and Monday November 14th from 4-8pm at Leo P. Gallagher and Son's Funeral Home, 31 Arch Street, Greenwich CT. A memorial mass will be held Tuesday, November 15th at 11:00am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 4 Riverside Avenue, Riverside, CT.
