Janet M Sloan

Janet is survived by her loving husband of 65 years Ray Sloan; sister Nancy Foti (Andras); children Nancy Hamner (Nat), Carol MacDonald (Reggie), Laurie Sloan (Frank Noelker), and Andy Sloan (Amy Gugig); and granddaughters Kelley Berning, Maggie MacDonald, Catherine Hamner, Abby MacDonald, and Annie Hamner.

Janet was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on June 12, 1928 to Catherine and Earl S. Kelley. At the age of 9, Janet moved with her family to Los Angeles, California. Janet met Ray Sloan when they were both attending UCLA. They were married in 1949.

Janet traveled the world by her husband’s side, visiting 30 countries before Ray’s retirement from the Continental Group in 1985. She loved painting, spending time with family, and socializing with her husband and their many friends. Janet had a genuine curiosity about the world and enjoyed learning about history and nature.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on May 30, 2015 at Saint Michael Church, 469 North Street Greenwich, Connecticut. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Red Cross.
