Linda C Shaio

Linda Christine Shaio of Greenwich, CT passed away peacefully on January 3rd 2012 at Greenwich Hospital at the age of 63. Linda was born in Attleboro , Massachusetts and graduated from Emerson College with honors in 1970 with a passion for the performing arts. She met her husband of 40 years, Alberto Shaio, there, and followed him home to Bogota, Colombia, where her 3 children were born and where she continued her involvement in musical theater through singing, acting, and directing multiple performances. In 1980, she moved to Greenwich, CT, with her husband and children, and immediately became an active participant in the community.

Greenwich Country Day School was her second home, first as an extremely involved mother, directing multiple musicals and volunteering for all of her children’s activities, and next as a board of trustee member, annual fund chair, and then as an educator. She was a Spanish teacher there for almost 15 years, and loved her students as her own children. The GCDS community will sorely miss her. Linda was a golfer and member of Burning Tree Country Club for almost 30 years and had ties throughout Fairfield County in the performing arts. Linda was a member of the Chavurat Deevray Torah of Greenwich, CT. She was devoted to her family and friends and constantly touched the lives of those around her.

Linda is survived by her beloved husband, Albert Shaio, her loving children, Elizabeth Archibald, Katherine Sandhu, and Victor Shaio, her devoted parents, Tony and Alice Orabone of Cape Cod, MA, her caring sisters Deborah Williams of Kissimmee, FL, and Claudia Orabone of Cape Cod, MA, and her four cherished grandchildren who will all miss her dearly.

Visitation will occur on Thursday, January 5, from 4-8pm at Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home located in Greenwich, CT. There will be a memorial service to celebrate Linda’s life on Friday, January 6 at 12 p.m. at Temple Shalom, followed by a burial service at Kensico Gardens, Valhalla, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Linda Shaio Foundation, LLC, P.O. Box 4235, Greenwich, CT 06831. A Shiva service will be held Saturday, January 7 at 6pm and Sunday, January 8 at 6pm at her home on 9 Sidney Lanier Lane. All family and friends are welcome to attend.
