Carroll Ray Lowe, 73, of Greenwood, Arkansas went to be with his Savior Tuesday, January 25, 2022. He was born to William Charner Lowe and Jessie McCoy Lowe on February 26, 1948 in Booneville, Arkansas.
He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1966, and he graduated from Arkansas Polytechnic College in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science in Parks and Recreation Management. In high school, Carroll was an outstanding athlete. During his senior football season, he received the honor of All-State, and he was deemed District 4A’s Most Valuable Back. Although his athletic career was short-lived after high school, he enjoyed watching sports throughout his life, especially the Arkansas Razorbacks and Greenwood Bulldogs.
Carroll attended Greenwood First Baptist Church where he was involved in a men’s life group as well as the Friday morning men’s Bible study. In adulthood, he began to faithfully follow the Lord. He thoroughly enjoyed Christian fellowship and discussing theology with others.
He was retired from the electric motor business. In his years of retirement, he could often be found at the golf course with his golfing buddies, which regularly included his grandson, Landry. His grandson, Drew, affectionately referred to him as “Grandpa,” and Dacie and Landry called him “Poppa.” Carroll could always be found with a smile and a silly remark to anyone he met. He was fun-loving, tenderhearted, and never met a stranger.
Carroll is survived by his wife, Tresa Wheeler Lowe and son, Josh Gamble of the home; daughter, Carmon (Mike) Snider of Phoenix, AZ; daughter-in-law, Tara Williams Gamble of Greenwood, AR; grandson, Andrew D’Amico of Irving, TX; granddaughter, Dacie Gamble of Greenwood, AR; brother, Wayne (Sharon) Lowe of Greenwood, AR. Carroll is preceded in death by his father, Charner Lowe; mother, Jessie Lowe; son, Aaron Gamble; grandson, Landry Gamble and brothers, Royce Lowe and Harold Lowe. He is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
The funeral service to mourn the loss and celebrate the eternal victory of Carroll’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, January 28 at Greenwood First Baptist Church with burial at Gilliam Cemetery. Family visitation will be immediately following the funeral service. Viewing will be 2 - 7 p.m. on Thursday at Greenwood First Baptist Church. Services are entrusted to McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
Pallbearers will be Andrew D’Amico, Ethan Adams, JR Wheeler and Darren Adams. Honorary pallbearers include the First Baptist Church Men's Friday Bible Study Class and Carroll’s Golf Buddies at The Vache Grasse Country Club.
