

Charles “Chuck” Canada, 64, of Greenwood, died Monday, December 10, 2012 in his home. He was born October 26, 1948, and was retired from Whirlpool. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas Canada and Margaret Lavada Basham Canada, and brothers, John E. Canada and Granville Canada.
Charles graduated from Greenwood High School in 1966, and was drafted into the United States Army in 1968, where he served active duty in Vietnam for two separate tours, and was honorably discharged after 10 years of service. During his time in the Army, he met and married his wife of forty years, Janet Diane Kresen Canada, and began a family of two daughters, Gianna Marie Canada Grant and Jackie Renee Canada Shepherd. After his service in the Army, Charles worked for Ingersoll Rand thirteen years and Whirlpool nine years.
Charles was loved by all who knew him. He had a heart for giving and helping. He enjoyed his four grandchildren; Char-leigh, Ashton, Keylan and Cierra. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He was deeply loved and will be missed immeasurably.
He was baptized at First Baptist Church in Greenwood. In later years, he developed a relationship with the Lord through Bible reading and watching sermons on TV.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 14 at McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood with interment at 12:00 P.M. in the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith. Viewing will be 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Survivors include his wife Janet Diane Kresen Canada; two daughters, Gianna Marie Canada Grant and husband Jerry, and Jackie Renee Canada Shepherd; four sisters, Juanita Denton, Delores Lovell, Joy Monasco, and Mary Payne; two brothers, Elmer Canada and Merel Canada, and four grandchildren, Cierra Marie Grant, Char-leigh Dianne Canada Stultz, Ashton Renee Sangster, and Keylan Parker Craig.
