Charles Gene Looper, 89, of Mansfield, Arkansas passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born on October 11, 1933 in Dayton, Arkansas, the third son of Walter L. and Bertha E. Looper. He was a member of his childhood church, Palestine Baptist Church. He enjoyed serving as a Gideon for many years. He was also active in Sertoma, the Sebastian County 4-H Foundation and the Chamber of Commerce. Many will know him from his business, Looper Photography. He took many area school pictures and wedding photos.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Mary Lou, his mother and father and his brothers, Warren Durward Looper, Durden William Looper and Walter Lewis Looper. He is survived by his daughters, Becky (Bob) Echols and Sheila (Brian) Holstein, granddaughters, Abigail and Hannah Holstein and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Thursday, December 29 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Dayton Cemetery. Pastor Jordan Martin will be officiating. Viewing will be Wednesday from 1 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 5 – 7 p.m.
