Ethel Tackett Pope, 100, passed away Friday, April 13, 2018 in a Fort Smith hospital. She was born to William L. Tackett and Cora Story Tackett on October 25, 1917 in Hector, Arkansas. She finished high school at Hector, Arkansas in 1936. She married Harold F. Pope on June 16, 1938 in Van Buren, Arkansas, they were married 61 ½ years when Harold passed away. She was a homemaker and member of Cavanaugh Free Will Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 17 at Cavanaugh Free Will Baptist Church with burial at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Monday from 1 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
She is survived by one son, Tom Pope of Fort Smith; two daughters, Rebecca Green and husband, Bill of Rogers and Barbara Hartness and husband, Bob of Fort Smith; two brothers, Bill Tackett of Hector and Ronald Tackett of Russellville; one sister, Corrine Dare of Russellville; four granddaughters, Stephanie Jones, Brandi Green, Meghan Pope and Kristen Pope; two grandsons, Eric Hartness and Ashley Hartness and five great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Charley Wagner’s Angels Sunday School Class.
