Hazel L. (Davis) Allison of Greenwood, Arkansas passed away November 19, 2021. Mrs. Allison was born December 11, 1931 at Cameron, Oklahoma to Amie Gipson Davis and James L. Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Allison, her parents, her brother, James Virgil Davis and sister-in-law, JoAnn Davis. Survivors include daughter, Donna Goldstein and husband, Joel of Greenwood; son, Layne E. Allison of Greenwood; son, James E. Allison, Jr. and wife, Paula of Dumas, Texas; daughter, Cynthia Ann Thomas and husband, Larry of Ballinger, Texas; six grandchildren, Allison Woods Frederick, Patrick Allison, Melissa Dunn and husband, Vincent, Jami Allison, Jodie Popp and Sherie Shaw and great grandchildren, Autumn Allison, Eleanor Dunn, Evelyn Dunn and Eilah Dunn.
Mrs. Allison lived in Kansas for forty years where she was active in civic and political affairs. She served on the board of Montgomery County Kansas Community Corrections, the Kansas State Board of Directors of Community Corrections, the Kansas Council on Crime and Delinquency, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, Kansans for the Right to Work, and was a member of the American Correctional Association and the National Federation of Business and Professional Womens’ Clubs, the National Federation of Republican Women, and the Sunflower Club. She was appointed by the Kansas Board of County Commissioners to conduct a feasibility study, site selection and design for the Montgomery County, Kansas Judicial Center.
Politically, she served for many years as Montgomery County Republican Chair and as chair of many campaigns including Presidents Reagan and Bush and Senators Bob Dole and Nancy Kassebaum, as well as many congressional, state, district and local candidates. She was a national delegate in 1980 for Ronald Reagan.
In 1993, upon Dr. Allison’s retirement, Dr. and Mrs. Allison moved to Corsicana, Texas to be near their children. They later moved to Greenwood, Arkansas.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 24 at Dawson Cemetery in Milltown under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
