J.C. Griffiths, 88, lifelong resident of Hartford, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2024 in Fort Smith. He was born April 25, 1935 in West Hartford to Bennie and Mildred (Spradling) Griffiths. He started at the age of 12 years old working for Marburger Publishing, later purchasing the business and retired at the age of 88. He is a U.S. Army veteran, he served on the Sebastian County School Board and the Hartford Memorial Park Board, he was a former Mayor of Hartford and Sebastian County Justice of the Peace and member of the NRA.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Griffiths; one son, Marty Griffiths and wife, Peggy; two daughters, Tammy Maner and husband, Dennis and Vickie Cotner and husband, Bill; seven grandchildren, Jamie Maner, Ryan Maner, Justin Maner, Ashley Hoopengarner, Dylan Griffiths, Ciera Jones and Jesse Cotner and sixteen great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Monday, March 4 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Hartford Memorial Park. Viewing will be Sunday from 1 – 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Maner, Ryan Maner, Justin Maner, Dylan Griffiths, Jesse Cotner and Dennis Maner.
