

Jimmie Ray Sharp, 79, of Greenwood, left this life Friday, March 26 2010 in Fort Smith. He was a retired mechanic, member of the Greenwood First Baptist Church, veteran of the U.S. Navy and Korean War, and member of the USTRC and NATRA team roping associations. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and one granddaughter, Brandy Shelton.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 31 at the Greenwood First Baptist Church, with burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
Survivors include his wife Catherine Sharp of the home; five daughters, Vicki Shelton and Cheryl Hobbs, both of Lavaca, Sheila Sharp of Fort Smith, Summer Abbot of Dallas, TX, and McKenzie Sharp of the home; four sons, Jimmy, Timmy, Jody and Jackie Sharp, all of Fort Smith; one brother, Jerry Sharp and his wife, Helen; two sisters-in-law, Lynn Reyes and husband, Ray of Yucaipa, CA, and Ginger Benton and husband, Ron of Claypool, AZ; one brother-in-law, Cecil (Butch) Boswell of Claypool, AZ; mother-in-law, Claudine Boswell of Globe, AZ; fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, two aunts, one uncle, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Viewing will be 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 30 at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Kit Parker, Randy Mizell, Lyndell Sharp, Jerry Sosebee, Doug Bailey and Trey Burgess. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Jones, Bill Glass, Gerald Davis, Hub Brooks, Harvey Bryant and Gary Grimes.
