Mary Sue Hawks, 78, of Greenwood, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 7, 2023 in Greenwood. She was a devoted wife to David Hawks Sr. and together they raised two daughters, Sheila Graham (partner Vincent Walker) of Bonanza and Loretta Redding (Fred) of Greenwood, as well as one son, David Hawks Jr. (Connie) of Magazine. Mary had 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Music was one of Mary's biggest passions, and she loved singing with her sisters, playing the piano, and the guitar. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, playing Rummy with her children and grandchildren, always doing whatever it took to win. Her kindness, hospitality, and infectious laugh will be forever cherished by those who knew her.
Mary is survived by her sister, Louise Hale of Waldron. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Elva Suter, her loving husband David, and her sisters, Faye Drewery, Betty Eddison, and Shirley Mahan.
The family will host a celebration of life service at a later date. Burial will be at Huntington Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
