Born November 14, 1954 in Paris, AR to Elba Gene and Sue Lowe, Diane was a cattle farmer and retired quality control coordinator with Tyson Foods. Her true passion, however, was her volunteer work with The Artemis Project animal rescue. Innumerable dogs owe their welfare to Diane’s committed care as a foster dog parent.
Diane is survived by her husband of 43 years, Jerry Downs; her mother, Sue Lowe of Barber; her sisters, Wanda House (Steve) of Barber, Melinda Hale of Pocola, OK, and Susie Moore (Don) of Greenwood, AR; as well as her three children, Greg Downs (Monica) of Magazine, AR, Bryan Bradford (Sari Fordham) of Manlius, NY, and Sherry Honeycutt of Broken Bow, OK.
She was a fun and loving grandmother to her seven grandchildren, Andrew Honeycutt, Macy Honeycutt, Kalynn Downs, Noah Honeycutt, Alan Downs, Casey Downs, and Kai Bradford.
Diane loved the ocean and liked to hear the waves break over the sand. She was renowned for her Italian cream cake and showed her love by feeding you. She was tough. She had her jaw broken from a kick of a horse and her leg run over by a forklift, but you would never hear her complain. She was hard-working and headstrong and was loved by many, many people.
Please join us for a memorial service in celebration of Diane’s life at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 23, at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel, 137 N Main St, Greenwood, AR.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make donations to The Artemis Project Rescue.
