Paul Jarrell Page, 85, of Fort Smith, Arkansas went to inhabit his heavenly home prepared for him by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, July 9, 2012. Jarrell was born January 27, 1927 in Greenwood, Arkansas. Jarrell was the youngest of five children born to Barney Page, Sr. and Lela Page. He was raised in the Burnsville community where farming was the livelihood of the family. The lifestyle of family, faith, commitment and hard work on the farm instilled in Jarrell integrity and a good work ethic. He was indeed a part of a unique and special generation.
At the age of 17, Jarrell joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country during WW II until the war’s ending.
Jarrell married Jewell Lee Coward on March 7, 1953. To this union four children were born. Jarrell and Jewell have always been an extreme example of faith in Christ, raising their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord as commanded in Ephesians 6:4. For most of their 59 years of marriage they have made their home in Fort Smith.
Jarrell was employed by Ward’s Ice Cream Co. for over 30 years until the company was forced out of business because of a devastating fire. After Ward’s, Jarrell worked in sales for White Dairy Ice Cream and eventually completed his career in ice cream sales with Hiland Dairy. He then went on in retirement to driving cars for Avis between their various locations.
Jarrell was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Fort Smith for over 35 years. For all of those years, Jarrell and Jewell have faithfully served as volunteers in the Pastor’s Class until illness has prohibited in the last year.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 11 at the First Baptist Church in Fort Smith with burial at Lovelace Cemetery in Witcherville under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jarrell Wayne Page: son-in-law, Danny Burton; parents, Barney Page, Sr. and Lela Page; brother, Barney Page, Jr.: sisters, Frances Brickey, Juanita Brickey, and Imogene Stephens.
