Phyllis Jane Ball

Born Oct 15, 1937 in Pine Township, PA, to Carl La Rue and Erla Grace Lawton Reese, she worked as a bookkeeper for her husband and father’s Kerr McGee Service Station in Mansfield, was a typesetter for The Mansfield Citizen Newspaper for 28 years and later worked as a cashier for CV’s Family Foods. She was a member of the Mansfield First United Methodist Church, was a participant of Hartford Diet club, the Methodist Church Exercise class and Bible study, enjoyed reading, and was an avid supporter of community events.

She was preceded in death by her husband George William Ball on June 7, 2002, who she married on June 6, 1955, and a son, Roger Lee Ball who passed away on March 14, 2013. She is survived by two sisters and one brother; Thelma Karen Van Winkle and husband Gene of Van Cleave, MS, Crickett Thomas and husband Rick of Mansfield, AR, and Carl Kenneth Reese and wife Thresea of Fort Smith, AR. She is survived by three daughters and spouses; Linda and Jim McMahon of Plano, TX, Sharon and Rick McDaniel of Mansfield, AR, and Lori and Michael Cramer of Heber Springs, AR. She had seven grandchildren, Tiffany, Crystal, Megan, Nicholas, LeDonna, Rhonda, William and four step-grandchildren, Chris, Kevin, Justin, Christopher; nine great-grandchildren and thirteen step great-grandchildren. She has numerous nieces, nephews and friends who loved her and will miss her greatly. She is also survived by special family friend, Sheri Hopkins, and Jr.

Service will be at 10:00 am, Friday, November 6 at Mansfield First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Topham and the Rev. Sammye Rink officiating. Burial will follow at Coop Prairie Cemetery in Mansfield. Pallbearers will be Blake Thomas, Christian Lytle, William Ball, James Atchison, Nicholas Ronzzo, Jarrod Carson and Willie Stone. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dave Johnson, Herchel Williams, Richard Henson, Bruce Hainley, Jim Udouj and Danny Dehart.

Viewing will be Thursday from 1-8 p.m. and family will visit with friends from 6-8 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mansfield First United Methodist Church, the Hartford Diet Club or Mercy Hospice Fort Smith.
