Ronald (Ron/Ronnie) Jack Marvin entered this world on November 3, 1938, son of the late Lois and Virgil Marvin in Van Buren, Arkansas. He left this world to go to his Heavenly Father on January 8, 2023. He lived a full, happy life and was loved by many.
Immediately following graduation from Fort Smith High School, he did his patriotic duty and joined the Navy. He served from 1956-1960. Once leaving the military he went to Tulsa, Oklahoma to complete his BS in history. Ron wanted to be a high school history teacher, as history was his passion. While working his way through college as a shoe salesman, he met the woman he was to marry. Patricia Ann Vining became his wife on October 10, 1964 and they remained married until his passing 58 years later.
Ron and Pat would transfer and live in several cities with Sears until his early retirement in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 55. They then moved back to Fort Smith to be closer to family. Ron had a personality that could light up a room and contagious laugh. If you were the lucky one to have his attention, he would happily engage in any history subject, politics or his favorite...Razorback football.
He was a very proud and loving father and grandfather to all three of his children, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Ron has two sons, Keith Allen and William (Billy) Dale and one daughter, Ronna Leigh. Keith lives in David City, Nebraska with his wife, Denise and have four children, Allison, Wyatt, Sarah and Ashley; William and Cheryl in Greenwood, Arkansas have three children, Arabelle, Connor and Colin and Ronna Leigh in Jefferson City, Missouri with her husband, Tod Wilson. Ronna has one daughter, Emerson Leigh. Ron has one great granddaughter, Abigail but also has three great grandchildren on the way. Ron was preceded in death by his two brothers, Horace and Donnie and two sisters, Irene Basham and Virginia King.
He is loved and will be missed so much by so many but will always be blessed to have known this intelligent, compassionate, loving, caring soul.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m., Friday, January 13 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood.
