Shirley Lee James, 78, peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024 in Fort Smith, Arkansas surrounded by loving family. Shirley was born in Van Buren, Arkansas on September 7, 1945 to Hansford Lee and Letha Viola Berry. Her hands displayed a lifetime of hard labor and dedication shown through her years of factory and fieldwork, gardening and beautiful hand sewing. Shirley was retired and filled her days with reading, church, the gym, shopping and family.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley; son-in-law, Ira; many grandchildren, including Kristoffer, Madison, Cody, Harley and grandson-in-law, Logan; great grandson, Ellis; sister, Donna and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, siblings and her oldest daughter, Carol.
Thank you for a lifetime of love and wonderful memories; a lifetime just feels too short. We lovingly leave you to a sweet and peaceful rest.
A family hosted memorial service will be Saturday, June 29 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Farmer's Bank Community Room in Greenwood. Arrangements are under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
