Shirley Mae McDaniel

Shirley Mae McDaniel, 59, of Greenwood, Arkansas went home to be with her Savior Thursday, January 18, 2024 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born September 25, 1964 in Paris, Arkansas. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Mansfield, Arkansas. Shirley was a 1982 graduate of Greenwood High School.

On February 16, 1985, Shirley married the love of her life, Kenneth McDaniel. Shirley and Kenny had two sons, Christopher and Ryan McDaniel. They also had over 50 foster children in a span of 6 years. She is also survived by her mother, Faye Hicks of Greenwood; two brothers, Olen Hicks and wife Jeannie of Blanchard, OK and Doug Hicks and wife, Karla of Fort Smith; four sisters, Sheila Sutton and husband, Lonnie of Mansfield, Charlotte Bascue and husband, Dale of Riverton, WY, Janet Reeder and husband, Phillip of Hockley, TX and Brenda Blaylock of Lavaca many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Shirley enjoyed having lots of fun and making family and friends laugh. There was never a dull moment when Shirley was around.

Shirley was preceded in death by her fathers, Virgle Hicks and Gilbert Geels, her father-in-law, Loyd McDaniel and her son, Christopher McDaniel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in her honor.
