W.D. Looper, Sr., 88, of Greenwood, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2009 in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a retired farmer and rural mail carrier, veteran of the U.S. Army and World War II, member of the V.F.W., member and deacon of Palestine Baptist Church, member of the Soil Conservation District, member of Gideons International, member of Sebascott Economic Development Council and preceded in death by his wife Doris Looper.Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Thursday, November 5 at the Palestine Baptist Church with burial at Gilliam Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be 1 - 9 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 5 - 7 p.m.He is survived by two sons, Warren D. Looper and Jimmy L. Looper both of Greenwood; one brother, Charles Looper of Mansfield; ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.Pallbearers will be Steven Pitts, Gary Looper, Kendall Looper, Randall Looper, Shawn Looper and Mike Looper.
