Barbara Jean Bunn Sandstrom

Barbara graduated from Gresham High School in 1940 and then attended Oregon State University. She was a teller at several banks including Ben Franklin Savings and Loan for many years and co-owner of Sandstrom Turkey Hatchery.

Barbara married Clifford Sandstrom on November 7, 1943 at Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church. Clifford preceded her in death on June 15, 2003.

Barbara lived in Fairview, Oregon until 1950 when she, Cliff and children moved to Sandy, Oregon. She was involved in many church activities at Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church, especially in the Mariners Group.

Barbara helped form the Women’s Aglow program in the State of Oregon where she was a board member of the Portland Chapter. She was also a member of the Sandy Ridge Women’s Association and Eastern Star.

Survivors include her sons, Jon Sandstrom of Sandy, Oregon; Carl Sandstrom, of Council, Idaho; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by a son Eric Allan Sandstrom.

Donations may be given to the American Diabetes Association.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church located at 2420 NE Fairview Ave. in Fairview, Oregon. Private burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
