Bobby was born June 22, 1932 in Crosland, Colquitt County, Georgia to Cecil Maxwell Timmons and Hilda Louise (Thompson) Beard. Bobby had three siblings, Roscoe, Sam and Louise. He grew up and enjoyed a young country boy life in Crosland. Bobby’s father passed away when he was seven and the family lived with his Papa, George Henry Beard for many years and he was a great influence on Bobby. The family moved to Moultrie, Colquitt County, Georgia where Bobby attended High School, and enjoyed sports, playing on the football and basketball teams.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 18 and served honorably for over 30 years. While in the Navy he met a sweet young nurse, Joy Anne Langan and they were married on March 12, 1954. Bobby and Joy had four children, Pam, Bobbi, Robin and John. While serving in the military the family moved several times until Bobby retired in 1980. Not long after retirement they moved to Georgia to be with and care for Bobby’s mother until her passing. In 1999 they moved to Puyallup, Washington to be closer to family and in 2010 moved to be with their daughter in the Gresham area.
Bobby was very proud of his military service, as was his family. He loved to putter in the yard and fix whatever needed to be fixed around the house. His greatest love was his family. Bobby loved spending time with them and keeping in touch with those that did not leave nearby.
Bobby is survived by his children, Pam Massey, John Timmons and Robin Fisher; 7 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Joy Anne (Langan) Timmons in 2018 and their daughter Bobbi Joy Timmons in 2004.
