Christine Diane Cummings, 70 of Gresham OR, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013. She was born on February 1, 1943 in Portland, Oregon to Harold and Sophie (Young) Meinig and graduated from David Douglas High School in 1961. She married Robert Allan Cummings on October 7, 1961 in Portland, Oregon. Christine worked for 27 years with the Gresham/Barlow School District and retired in 2002 as the Head Secretary for Clear Creek Middle School. She loved animals, was an active supporter of the Oregon Humane Society and also made sequin calendars.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on July 31, 2000 and her daughter LeAnne Marlett. She is survived by her son Bob Cummings (Roberta) of Troutdale OR; sister Clarice Moss (Dave) of Damascus OR; granddaughter Elle Marlett, grandson Derek Marlett and step granddaughter Danielle Miller.
A Celebration of Christine’s Life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Mountain View Christian Church, 1890 NE Cleveland Avenue, Gresham, Oregon 97030. Contributions may be made to the Oregon Humane Society. Arrangements entrusted to Bateman Carroll Funeral Home.
