

Born on February 24, 1943, in Phoenix, Arizona to Leslie Love and Nadine Merritt, and raised by Nadine and stepfather, Norward Cortez. She was preceded in death by her father, Leslie Love; mother, Nadine Merritt; stepfather, Norward Cortez; and sister, Buggy Miller. She is survived by her husband, Ronald McMahan; daughter, Kelli Moore; son, Micheal Antes; granddaughters, Leah Moore, Mackenzie Moore and Kiyra Hansen; brothers, Les Love, Paul Cortez; and sister, Candy Cruse.
Connie graduated from Big Spring High School in 1961 and got her associate degree in medical assisting at Mt. Hood Community college in 1984. At the age of 32 she enlisted in the United States Army. She valued this service highly and attained the rank of Sergeant. As part of this service Connie received the Army Commendation Medal from November 24, 1975 – August 3, 1978, for professional adeptness, sound judgement and devotion to duty in all assigned tasks. Connie also enjoyed doing hair and became a hairdresser for 20 years, mostly working with the elderly in care homes.
Connie loved to travel and spend time with family, she will be remembered for this, along with her kind heart and quick wit. Despite the challenges of her illness, her spirit remained bright, and her caring nature touched all who knew her.
A memorial service with mass will be held for Connie at 11:30 AM on February 21, 2025, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 5905 SE 87th Avenue, Portland, Oregon 97266. Followed by a committal service with military honors at 2:30 PM at the Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd, Portland, Oregon 97086. All are welcome at both ceremonies.
