Denny (John) Widmer

Denny worked at for Stone Logging Co. in Tillamook before joining the U.S. Coast Guard in 1943. Altogether, he spent over a year at sea in the Asian Pacific Theater. He left the Coast Guard in 1946, having served his country with honor. Denny went on to start his own paving business, and later worked as a superintendent in the same field. In his spare time, he enjoyed landscaping and travel, as well as his morning coffee with friends at Sherri’s.

On February 24, 1978, he married Juanita (Ayers) in Vancouver, WA. They had a wonderful marriage, and were best friends. Denny had a great sense of humor, and was witty and well liked. He always had a sunny disposition. He was a very supportive father and husband, and was always fun to be around.

Denny was preceded in death by his sister, Marjorie, and daughter Connie. Denny is survived by his wife, Juanita; son Bob Ramos; daughters Shannon Ramos and Shelley Martin, all of Gresham, OR; brothers George Widmer of Tillamook, Gene Widmer of Tillamook, Bob Widmer of Ontario; sister Betty Werner of California, as well as 4 grandchildren.

A committal service with military honors will be held for Denny at Willamette National Cemetery on July 6, 2012 at 10:00am.
