Our mother, Dolores M. Garcia, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 4, 2021 of natural causes. She was born on March 18, 1932 in Yuma, Arizona to Maria and Joe Molina. She had two brothers (Joe Jr. and Frank), and two sisters (Helen and Amelia).
Dolores grew up in Yuma until she was 18, moved to Watsonville, California and met her future husband John Z. Garcia, who worked for the City of Watsonville. They were married in September 1950. They had three children: Susan, Martha and John, Jr.
She was a homemaker, and loved to garden. When her husband passed away in 1976, she began working as a Bilingual Education Assistant for the Unified Pajaro Valley School District until she retired in 1996.
She lived in Watsonville until 2019, when she moved to Portland, Oregon to be near her daughters. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her husband and her son John. She is survived by her daughters Susan Stevens-Garcia (Cliff) and Martha Moreau (Joe), her grand-children Eric, Ashley, Danielle, Michael and Deanna, her great-grand daughter Marley, her nephew Richard Torres, and nieces Maria Kelley and Alice Moyer.
In honor of her wishes, no funeral service is planned.
