Elsie L. Whittlesey, 99 of Damascus OR, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018. She was born on October 30, 1918 in London, Ontario, Canada to Clayton and Iva (Liscomb) Bickford. She graduated from Gresham High School in 1936 and attended Business College in Portland. Elsie married Eugene Charles Whittlesey on August 29, 1941 in Portland, Oregon and he preceded her in death in 1978. Elsie became a US Citizen on March 18, 1965. She was a longtime member with Country Cut-Ups Square-dancing Club of Boring. She loved fishing, gardening, music, dancing and was a longtime member of the Damascus/Boring Grange.
Elsie is survived by her daughter Sue Burch of Portland OR; sons Ivan “Ike” Whittlesey (Janice) of Philipsburg, MT and Roger Whittlesey (Jean) of Damascus OR; six grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Elsie’s Life will be at 2:00pm on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd in Gresham, Oregon. Private interment at Willamette National Cemetery.
