He was a devoted father, grandfather, and hardworking tradesman who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Gary spent his career as a painting contractor, taking great pride in a job well done and in the relationships he built on every project. Over the years, he called several places home, including Shasta, California; Sheridan, Oregon; and, most recently, Lake Oswego, Oregon, where he enjoyed being close to family.
Gary was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patty, whom he cherished and missed dearly. He is survived by his children, Kathy, Kelly, and Kevin, who will remember him for his quiet strength, steady support, and the love he showed in everyday moments.
Central to Gary’s life was his Christian faith, which shaped his values, his kindness to others, and the way he faced both work and hardship. He loved music, especially classical and gospel, and was known on job sites for playfully drowning out the other contractors’ “hippie music” with his own, a running joke that showed his humor and stubborn charm. In his quieter moments, he loved getting lost in a good Zane Grey western and never passed up the chance to watch an old black-and-white western on TV.
Those simple pleasures, along with time spent with family, brought him great joy, and one of his greatest joys was being a grandfather to his seven grandchildren, Mathew, Daniel, Leeanna, Ian, Morgan, Liam, and Patrick who will forever remember their grandpa’s warmth, humor, and gentle presence. His legacy lives on in the faith, hard work, loyalty, and love he passed down, and in the many lives he touched along the way.
