

George went to Algoma Township Elementary School in Minnesota. He married Madonna Houle in 1952 in Warroad, Minnesota. George was the head mechanic and also a bus driver at the Warroad School in Minnesota. He was also a grain farmer, creamery worker and operated a movie theater. He worked for Boeing in Seattle during the 1940’s and 1950’s. Later he worked for Boeing in Portland. George was a laborer for the City of Portland. He lived in Annacortes, Washington for several years before moving to Oregon in 1966.
George was a member of the Gresham Elks Organization. He was an excellent auto mechanic, enjoyed playing scrabble and crossword puzzles, traveling and was an avid reader. He loved to dance with his wife. He enjoyed hunting.
Survivors include his son Douglas Romach of Peru, New York, three daughters, Pamela Oliverio of Yankton, Oregon, Cynthia Loeffler, of Gresham, OR., and Joy Soots, of Fairview, OR., two sisters, Kathryn Johnson of Roseau, Minnesota and Nona Engberg of Annacortes, WA., six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be on Thursday, December 30th at 9:00 a.m. at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland followed by a 10:30 a.m. Thursday Service of Remembrance at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd. in Gresham, Oregon.
