

Gladys was born on August 31, 1917 in Corson, South Dakota and was the daughter of Enos and Alpha (Mintun) Beat. She grew up in South Dakota and competed high school.
On November 20, 1947 she married Robert M. Harris in Vancouver, Washington. They resided in Springfield, Oregon and in 1952 they moved to Portland. They moved to Gresham in 1975.
Gladys worked as the Cafeteria Manager in the High Schools for the Portland Public School District. She retired in 1979.
Gladys was loving, caring and an extremely friendly person. She enjoyed embroidery, reading and she baked the best cookies and cinnamon rolls. Family was very important to her and she enjoyed time spent with her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Gladys is survived by her husband, Robert of Gresham and daughters, Linda (fiancé, Richard Gomez) Harris of Yakima, Washington and Barbara Harris of Portland along with 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Her brother, Lester and sister, Alma both preceded her in death.
Contributions may be made in memory of Gladys to the Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she was a member. Bateman Carroll Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
