James Howard Fisher was born June 26, 1957 in Springfield, Missouri the son of James William and Betty Mae (Wilson) Fisher. He passed away at his home in Oregon City on January 3, 2012 at the age of 54.
At a young age, James got bored with school and did odd jobs like working on cars, washing dishes, and getting into "mischief". He then left Oregon to see his sister, Betty Jane, in Texas. Then on to Missouri with his uncle George where he became interested in trucking. He got his license to be a long haul trucker and enjoyed that life very much. He loved seeing different parts of the country and did not like having the grass growing under his feet. One of his favorite places he saw was Graceland because he was one of Elvis' biggest fans. When his health prevented him from continuing to be a long haul trucker, he returned to Oregon and his family.
Anyone we talked to about James said he loved his country music, banana cream pie, fixing anything he could, watching game shows, and swapping lies with his friends. James had a good sense of humor and a heart the size of Texas. He would always help other people whenever he could with as little as he had.
He is survived by his son, James Fisher; daughter, Tiffany Chandler Fisher; mother, Betty Mae Hanel and husband Ronald; brother, George Hanel; sisters, Betty Jane Camacho and Patty Miller and three grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, John William Fisher and brother, John Lee Fisher.
James will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Gresham, Oregon.
Arrangements under the direction of Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, Gresham, Oregon.
