

Joan spent the first eleven years of her life on the family wheat ranch in Lewiston, Idaho. In 1929, the family moved to Ridgefield, Washington. Joan attended Ridgefield High School, and she graduated in 1937. On August 21st of that year, Joan married Ted Rasmussen. They were married until his passing in October of 1990. Together, they had two children.
In 1968, Joan and Ted moved to Woodland, Washington, where they lived in a riverfront log cabin. In 2004, Joan moved to Gresham, where she lived until her passing.
Joan was an active member of the community. She was a Grey Lady for the VA Hospital in Vancouver for over 25 years, and she received recognition for her service. She had a servant’s heart, and she will always be remembered for being a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, reading, gardening, and taking care of her family and friends.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son in law, Keith Long. She is survived by her children, Peggy Long and Ted (Virginia); her grandchildren, Jennifer, Catherine, Greg, Jann and Clint; ten great grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren. She was loved, and will be missed.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, March 20, 1 p.m. at St Luke the Physician Episcopal Church, 120 SW Towle, Gresham, OR 97080, 503-665-9442. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to to St. Luke's Columbarium Fund.
