John Jeffrey Aho

John graduated from Gresham High School in 1978. He attended Oregon State University and later graduated from Clackamas Community College.

On July 27, 1985 he married Arlene Mott in Gresham, Oregon.

John lived to the fullest and shared his life and love with Arlene. They enjoyed their many great relationships and activities with their extensive group of friends and relatives.

John was a passionate and enthusiastic volunteer for the American Water Works Association where he planned and participated in many of their social events, business meetings, and conventions. He was especially enthusiastic about serving on their Scholarship Committee that enabled local students to fund a college education. In memory of his participation in AWWA, in 2008 John was awarded the PNWS AWWA Heart and Soul Award.

John combined his interest in fishing and desire to serve by donating his time and expertise at many of the area’s charity fishing tournaments and John and Arlene donated time to Children with Cancer camps.

John had a special passion for fishing and hunting, and he especially loved his time on the Sandy River. He learned to love this fishing spot as a young child and continued to enjoy it as an adult; John fished all over the Pacific Northwest and he always returned to the Sandy. He was a part time fishing guide. John also loved cooking for friends and relatives, and he was never accused of running out of food or providing small portions.

John’s friends, family, and acquaintances knew him as a genuine and faithful man, and he always had time to help those around him. He is greatly loved and will be deeply missed.

John is survived by his loving wife Arlene, Troutdale, OR., sister Sheila Boogaard, Lincoln City, OR., and brother Bill Chisholm, Beaverton, OR.

Memorial service will be on Saturday, July 14th at 1 pm at Mountainview Christian Church, 1890 NE Cleveland Ave. in Gresham.
