

Joseph Emil Ballas passed away on June 3rd, 2017, in Gresham, Oregon. He was born on June 2nd, 1952, in Portland, Oregon, to his parents: John and Josephine Ballas. He was baptized Catholic as a child. Joseph attended Roosevelt High School. He was a good student, and he was on the football team.
Following graduation, Joseph took some continuing education courses. He began his career at Rivera Motors shortly after graduation, where he worked in quality control as an inspector. He received numerous awards and recognitions for his service to the company. He worked there for over 10 years, until he was no longer able to work due to a disability.
Joseph was an avid outdoorsman. Hunting and fishing were two of his greatest passions. In his later years, he enjoyed gardening. Joseph was proud of his Slovak heritage, and he enjoyed speaking the language with his family members.
Joseph is survived by his sister and her husband, Anna and Tony Klein, and their children: Annettte, Douglas, James, Teresa, and Tracey; his brother and his wife, John and Pattie Ballas, and their children: John and David, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed.
