He was born January 21, 1957 in Tacoma, WA. and moved to Oregon when he was 5 years old. After graduating Centennial High School in 1975, he attended both Mount Hood Community College and Portland State University. Kurt worked at Boise Cascade for several years prior to joining NDE Professionals, Inc., where he was a quality control inspector at Oregon Iron Works for their ground base missile defense project.
Kurt and Barbara (Cannard) were married on May 17, 1980 and together raised their two children, Brooke and Nick. Kurt especially loved the outdoors: living in the country - working on his many projects and camping with family and friends. He loved collecting camping gear - always having anything anyone would need …and then some.
He brought warmth, love and laughter to all who knew him. He had a gift for humor and being able to find a “pun” in virtually any statement made. He loved to laugh and lighten the hearts of those around him.
Kurt loved the Lord, and truly had a servant’s heart; he enjoyed helping with events at his church whether it was a clean-up day, Awana’s, or Vacation Bible School, he also served as an elder.
John 14:6, “I am the way and the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me”, is the scripture that really spoke to Kurt’s heart and he wanted to share that knowledge with everyone.
Kurt was preceded in death by his father Donald, mother Helen (Dody), and his sister Karen. He is survived by his wife, children Brooke and Nick, son -in-law Louis Holmes, siblings Keith and Kathy, sister-in-law Diana and many loving nieces and nephews.
Memorial services for Kurt will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday May 11, 2019 at Corbett Community Church 34309 NE Mershon Rd. Corbett, Oregon 97019.
