children born to her parents, which include Canty Jr. Hutchcraft, James Hutchcraft, Carol Bernard, Betty
Hutchcraft and half brother, Jerry Redding.
Linda is survived by her husband Thomas Vincent Wallace and her three daughters, Tabatha Marie Wilson, Catherine Juanita Pranzetti and Laytina Dee Shue, 12 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren as well as her siblings and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and all of her many friends.
Linda and Tom met at TriMet where they both worked. Their first date was in 1984 and married on June
3rd, 1989 in Reno, Nevada. Linda loved camping and riding her quad with Brandie, her Chihuahua.
Linda’s career at TriMet lasted for 29.5 years. She started as a bus driver then moved to maintenance
where she did several different jobs. She then moved to the store room where she worked until her
retirement in 2006.
Linda retired to the little community of Wamic, Oregon along with three of her grandchildren. After they
graduated from Maupin High School, Linda kept busy crocheting, reading, playing bingo at American
Legion and keeping a tidy home. She loved to watch the deer out her window and had one she named
Tripod because he had three legs. Linda also liked to collect Beanie Babies, M & M's collectibles and
Betty Boop memorabilia.
Linda and Tom began traveling all over the country seeing amazing sites and visiting her daughters,
grandkids and great grandkids in various parts of the country as they were such a joy for her to see all of
them and visited other relatives along the way. Tom wanted to raise chickens and a cow for food and
that’s when Linda said it was time to sell their home. The home was placed on the market in the fall of
2016.
Linda loved being a camp host at Oregon’s wonderful State Parks. She was a great help and loved visiting with the campers. Linda would go for a walk around the campground and wouldn’t be seen for hours and Tom would have to go looking for her as she enjoyed talking to everyone.
On one trip to her brother-in-law Steven’s house to retrieve mail and catch up on matters, Linda was
stricken by a seizure on January 6th, 2017. Upon further testing a cancer tumor was found in her sinus
and it had spread to the frontal lobe of her brain. In March 2017, Linda had surgery to remove the tumor.
This was followed with radiation and chemotherapy. Linda stopped treatment in July of that year. While
treatment was going on, her house was sold and she moved into her motorhome full time.
Linda was stricken with the cancer again in March 2018. Surgery was done and all looked good. Due to
radiation effects, things wouldn’t heal. Linda experienced 16 more surgeries, one serious infection and a
broken hip in the next 14 months. She was a warrior through it all and wanted to go camping to the State
Parks as soon as she could as she loved meeting all Camp hosts and campers. The Camp hosts became
family to her.
In between hospital stays, Linda and Tom continued their travels around the United States, seeing new
places and spending months camp hosting. A few of those places were Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Grand
Canyon, Dollywood, Beal Street, Graceland, Mt Rushmore, Yellowstone, Crazy Horse Memorial and many State Parks in Oregon. Linda visited Las Vegas and was able to go to a NASCAR Race as she loves to watch them each week on tv. Linda really liked driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr. who then retired so her new driver became Joey Logano who drives #22 car currently.
Linda is preceded in death by her mother and father and stepfather, Keith Redding.
Linda will be truly missed by all that loved her and all that have had the pleasure of knowing her as she
was such a delight to know.
A Celebration of Linda's Life will be held at Noon on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 29018 SE Chase Road, Gresham OR 97080. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.batemancarrollfunerals.com for the Wallace family.
