

Lorraine Betty (Zaversnuke) McDonald of Happy Valley, Oregon passed away August 18, 2024 at the age of 79. Lorraine is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob) McDonald and their two daughters and their families: Tamma-lynn McGinnis (her husband Douglas and daughters Molly and Claire McGinnis); Terri-lynn McDonald (her husband David Ching and son Cayden Ching). She is also survived by brothers Bert Zavers and Richard Zaversnuke. Lorraine was predeceased by her brother, Harvey Zaversnuke.
Lorraine was born October 14, 1944 in Selkirk, Manitoba, Canada. Born into a family of Ukrainian descent, Lorraine spent her formative years helping on the family’s potato farm and cultivating deep friendships in this Ukrainian farming community outside Winnipeg, Manitoba. Lorraine married Bob McDonald on September 12, 1965. They had two daughters, Tamma-lynn and Terri-lynn. Lorraine, Bob, and family moved to Seattle, WA in 1978. Eventually the family settled in Portland, OR in 1989.
Lorraine loved her family and her friends. She expressed her love for others through her culinary talents, sharing baked goods or warm meals with the special people in her life. Lorraine found much happiness tending to her flowers and brightening her home and the lives of others with beautiful bouquets. Lorraine was well-known for her vivacious personality and had laughter and love for all.
Lorraine was a loving and devoted wife, caring mother, and doting grandma. Lorraine especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. It is through her grandchildren that Lorraine’s legacy will continue, that of bringing kindness and joy to others.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 3:00 PM at the Sunnyside Seventh-day Adventist Church, 10501 SE Market Street, Portland, Oregon 97216.
