

Lydia Sherman died on November 22, 2010 in Portland, Oregon at the age of 95. Lydia was born on July 21, 1915 in Acton, Montana to Fred and Hazel (Mainwaring) Cornelius. She grew up in the farm country surrounding Billings, Montana. Lydia married Thomas Sherman in 1937. They had five children. Thomas preceded her in death in 1957. Once her children were raised Lydia became a laboratory assistant until her retirement. She was a east county Portland area resident.
Lydia was a devoted Christian who faithfully attended the Church of the Air in Billings, Montana and Central Bible Church in Portland, Oregon. She was a faithful volunteer for her church at summer camps and Vacation Bible School. She spent her life serving others through the church.
Lydia enjoyed outdoor activities, but her main interest was in working with children. She was a devoted mother and grandmother to her five children, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Her sweet spirit was loved and admired by all who knew her.
Survivors include her four sons, Tim Sherman of Troutdale, Tom Sherman of Paulsbo, WA., Dave Sherman of Sun City, Arizona and Dan Sherman of Portland, OR., four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thomas and her daughter Ruth.

A memorial service will be at the on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at 3:00 p.m at Central Bible Church, 8815 NE Glisan St. in Portland, Oregon.
