Marie Catherine Arstill, 82 of Gresham, passed away Oct. 21, 2014. She was born in Coos Bay, Oregon on June 18, 1932 to Jack and Mary Hames. Marie grew up in Gold Beach, Oregon and following high school she studied English in college. She was a loving mother of 4 children and grandmother of 16 grandchildren. Marie enjoyed a good mystery book and spending time with her long time friends from Gold Beach. Both the holidays, especially Christmas, and family time were very important to Marie. She would entertain her grandchildren quite often at her home and she enjoyed attending their sporting events. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; and she is survived by her children, Catherine Johnson, Mary Johnson, Doug (Barb) Arstill and Sheri (Tom) Schulze; brother Arthur (Doreen) Hames; 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
