Marvin Eugene Thompson, 82, passed away on April 23, 2019 in Gresham, Oregon. He was born on February 22, 1937 in Elsie, Nebraska to Albert Franklin and Evelyn Mae (Lee) Thompson. He attended Cozad High School in Cozad, Nebraska and Santa Ana High School in Santa Ana, California, from which he graduated in 1955.
Marvin married Gail Elizabeth Thompson on March 2, 1957 in Santa Ana. In 1963, they moved to Oregon.
Marvin began his career with Magna Power Tools, where he worked as a salesman. He then went to work for Lilly Miller, followed by Drake’s 7 Dee’s, from which he retired. Marvin enjoyed collecting trains and antique toys. He worked as a “Bicycle Fix-It Man” and salesman. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will forever be missed by his family and friends.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Gail Thompson. He is survived by his children, Danny Thompson (wife, Keely), Patty Moore (husband, Jeff), Pamela Thompson, David Thompson, Tonya Thompson and Jeremy Thompson (wife, Heather); grandchildren, Perry, Ateah, Marshelle, JP, Jennifer, Chelsea, Lyndsea, James and Jaycob; great grandchildren, Hunter, Kolby, Luke, Nicole, Sam, Molly, Sophia and one great grandchild on the way, Eleanor; and siblings, Jim Thompson and LaVonne Baber.
Viewing will take place on Wednesday, May 1, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm and Thursday, May 2, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 2, at 11:00 am at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, with a reception following the service in the Timberline Room at Bateman Carroll. A Private Committal Service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Gresham, where Marvin will be laid to rest with his wife.
