

Troutdale resident Maxine Erickson passed away on September 14. She was 74. Visitation will be from 12 to 5 PM on Friday, September 17 at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 3 PM on Sunday, September 19 at Good Shepherd Community Church. Private burial at Douglass Cemetery in Troutdale.
Maxine was born August 30, 1936 in Aumsville, Oregon to Harvey and Alice (Brown) Snyder. When she was seven, the family moved to Gresham where she attended Powell Valley Grade School and graduated from Gresham High School in 1954. She married Melvin Erickson on July 12, 1957. Maxine raised four children and took care of the home. She worked as manager of the Good Shepherd Book Store from 1990 to 1999. She was also a volunteer board member for Community Access Services for the past 15 years.
Maxine loved travelling. She traveled all over the world including trips throughout Europe, Mexico, Iceland, Japan, Canada and all over the United States. She was an avid Blazers fan and had the opportunity to have her photograph taken with several players. She enjoyed scrapbooking, quilting and playing the flute. Maxine was very hospitable and often had friends over for dinner.
Maxine is survived by her husband, Melvin; sons, Gary Erickson of Goldendale, WA; Roger Erickson of Vancouver, WA; Dennis Erickson of Oregon City, OR; daughter, Shari Gallagher of Sandy, OR; sisters, Shirley Hieter of Vancouver, WA; Sue Ann Snyder of Aloha, OR; and 9 grandchildren.
