Mel G Provo

Mel G Provo, age 97, of Portland, Oregon passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024.

Mel was born to Andrew Joseph Provo and Arla Glad Williams Provo on December 29, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois.

He met Delaine Vivian Harr while stationed with the Navy in Oregon. He returned to Chicago after his service, where his brother encouraged him to go to her, since she wouldn't come to Chicago. The two married on June 8, 1947 in Oregon City, Oregon.

Mel worked for the Hubbard Drapery Service. He enjoyed golf and bowling and was an active member of the Elk's Club.

Mel never argued with anyone, except Delaine (which was always in good fun), and he was a great guy who will be missed by all who knew him.

Mel is survived by his son: Gary S. Provo; his daughters: JeanMarie Provo Brink, Sandra Dee Provo Dornfeld, and Janice Kay Provo Herman; his grandchildren: Jamie Herman, Jill Ann Brink Guillory, Jonathan Dornfeld, Angela Herman Platta, Becky Herman Sattero, Ian Dornfeld, Kristina Provo Little, and Wendi Provo Brown; and his great grandchildren: Lexie Herman, Caden Herman, Grant Platta, Rylee Dee Guillory, Liam Nickle Guillory, AJ Brown, Sean Little, Bradley Little, Olivia Brown, Parker Dornfeld, Paisley Dornfeld, and Chase Dornfeld.

A celebration of life for Mel will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Saved By Grace Lutheran Church, 2010 NE Division Street, Gresham, Oregon 97030.
