Raymond L. Herring

Raymond Louis Herring, 83 of Portland OR, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2019. He was born on November 8, 1935 in Walla Walla, Washington to John and Marjory (Larson) Herring. He graduated from Walla Walla High School and attended Walla Walla Community College, Mt. Hood Community College and Portland Community College. Ray was a veteran of the US Army.

Ray worked as an accountant from 1962 until his retirement in 1997 including White Stag Apparel from 1971 to 1987. He married Vivian JoAnn on March 20, 1999 in Portland, Oregon. He was a member of St. Henry Parish and enjoyed fly-fishing in the Wallowa’s, playing pool, bowling and Casino trips. Ray was an avid Trailblazers and Boston Red Sox fan.

Ray is survived by his wife Vivian Herring of Portland OR; sons Mark Herring (Glenny) of England, Randy Herring of Spokane WA and Brian Herring (Cherie) of Medford OR; daughter Sherree Matias (Tony) of Troutdale OR; step-daughter Debra Baker (Tim) of Corbett OR; step-sons Neil Berry (Kathryn) of Vancouver WA and Gary Walmer (Tonya) of Damascus OR; sister Patricia Ann Lucarelli (John), uncle Daryl Larson, aunt Darlene Coughlin and cousin Virginia Mahan all of Walla Walla WA; several nieces and nephews and eighteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 from 2:00-7:00pm at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd in Gresham. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00am on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at St. Henry Catholic Church, 346 NW First, Gresham OR 97030. Interment at Willamette National Cemetery. Contributions may be made as donations to Kaiser Hospice at oregonhospice.org in lieu of flowers.
