Roxanne Gillan Pallas passed from this life on November 25, 2024 in Portland, Oregon. She was born on August 27, 1952 in Portland, Oregon to Rosalind (Roth) and James Gillan. She lived her entire life in Portland as she truly loved everything about this city. She was an avid Portland Trailblazer fan and loved the musical group Heart, who hailed from Portland.
Roxi graduated from Cleveland High School in SE Portland in 1970. After meeting Gary Anton Pallas at a Columbia Christian College basketball game, they married on October 20, 1973 at Linwood Avenue Church of Christ in Milwaukie, Oregon by Bobb Gowen.
Gary and Roxi's marriage produced 2 children: Lori Anne (Pallas) Soriano and Daniel Robert Pallas. They had a foster teenager who they loved like their own, Diana Eagar Laskey. Roxi also had brothers Rex Gillan, Doug Gillan, Chuck Roth and Rocky Gillan. Roxi also had nieces and nephews she loved very much. Preceding Roxi in death were both of her parents, Rosalind (Rosie) Roth Gillan and James Gillan, stepmother, Veneda Sherer Howard, Rex Gillan, and her beloved husband, of almost 44 years, Gary.
Roxi's pride and joy were all 15 grandchildren and 1 great grandson), Gabriel Twilleager, Nathaniel Twilleager, Isaac Twilleager (Lori and Rick Twilleager), Jacob Soriano, Hannah Soriano, and Caleb Soriano, (Lori and Doug Soriano), Aiden Pallas, Ethan Pallas, and Kayleigh Pallas (Daniel and Lori Stockberger) Skylar Bingham (her son Benjamin), Ciara Morris, Saydie Laskey, Chresta Laskey (Diana and Cort Laskey) Brandon Minthorn and Benjamin Minthorn (Amy Minthorn). She loved all of these children in her own unique way and was so proud of all they achieved in each stage of life.
Roxi became a Christian when she was 16 and was a member of Linwood Avenue Church of Christ for many years. For several years she and Gary were members of Woodland Church of Christ in Woodland, Washington where they were helping to plant a church there. For many years, including the last several years of her life she was a member at Metro Church of Christ in Gresham, Oregon. Due to her decline in health, she was living in The Village Convalescent Center in Gresham. She physically attended church as often as she could, but became totally bed bound the last year of her life. She was so grateful for all those who kept in constant contact with her there all these years. She was not only encouraged, but she herself was an encourager to all she met. She started a coloring ministry, coloring all sorts of pictures, then sending them to anyone she thought needed encouragement. She also wrote many Bible studies sharing the gospel of Jesus to those on Facebook as well as encouraging those who are Christians in their daily walk. Roxi found her focus in life in being a friend to others in spite of the personal daily pain and suffering she was enduring.
Lastly, Roxi leaves behind many family and friends who thought the world of her. While we all know she is no longer suffering, she is in a better place. She will be greatly missed. It would be Roxi's desire that everyone would come to know and understand the great gift of salvation that only comes through Jesus Christ.
A committal service for Roxi was held Tuesday, December 10, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd, Portland, Oregon 97086. She was laid to rest next to Gary who was a Vietnam Veteran.
A memorial service for Roxi will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Eastside Church of Christ, 9030 NE Glisan Street, Portland, Oregon 97220.
