

Samer Nabil Hakim, 29 of Gresham OR, passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2012. He was born on August 16, 1983 in Ain El Rimaneh, Lebanon to Nabil and Najat (Sfeir) Hakim. He moved with his family to Troutdale in 1999 and has lived in Gresham since 2003. He was a 2001 graduate at Reynolds High School, attended Mt. Hood Community College and received his Bachelor Degree in 2004 from Portland State University. He married Kara Benfit on February 13, 2003 in Portland, Oregon.
Samer owned Yazzi’s Bar and Grill in Wood Village for eight years and Innovative Metal Design in Troutdale for six years. He enjoyed time with his family, friends and his dog Pacino. His many interests included soccer, fishing, dancing, music, relaxing with movies, food and playing with his nephews and nieces. He enjoyed different languages and cultures and loved traveling to Maui and trips to Crescent Lake to enjoy the sun.
Samer is survived by his wife Kara Hakim of Gresham OR; daughter Carmen Hakim of Gresham OR; parents Nabil and Najat Hakim of Portland OR and sisters Samara Hakim of San Diego CA and Miriam Hakim of Portland OR.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on Friday, November 23, 2012 at Saint Sharbel Church, 1804 SE 16th Avenue, Portland OR 97214 with interment to follow at Lincoln Memorial Park. Arrangements entrusted to Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham, Oregon.
