Mrs. Shanna Rae Collard Hart

Shanna Rae Hart, a resident of Oak Grove, Oregon, died on May 24, 2010 in Oak Grove. She was 74 years of age.

Shanna was born on November 2, 1935 in Ogden, Utah and was the daughter of Earl and Ronella (Holman) Collard. She attended grades 1-8 at St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from Weber High School in Ogden, Utah in 1954. She also attended college for a short time.

Shanna had moved to Las Vegas where she worked as a cocktail waitress. On December 21, 1955, she married Duane Hart in Elko, Nevada and they immediately moved to Oregon where they first resided in Oak Grove. They later moved to East County Portland where they lived primarily in the Rockwood District.

Shanna was a homemaker for much of her life after she was married. She cared for her two sons and created a safe and welcoming environment for them as well as their friends. She held a few jobs outside the home as well. She worked for various clothing stores include Lipman’s Clothing Store and Montavilla Clothing Store. She later worked at St. Vincent’s Medical Center as a house keeper and finally AMFAC Mortgage as a secretary. She retired in the late 1980’s and returned to being a homemaker but this time to spend more time with her grandchildren.

Shanna later moved to Milwaukie, and after her husband’s death in 2009, she returned to Oak Grove where she resided with her son and daughter-in-law until her death.

She was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church as well as the Gateway Elks and the Oregon Camper’s Club. Shanna also belonged to a bowling league for 15 years.

She had many hobbies in life. She enjoyed playing cards, dice and marbles and belonged to a Women’s Bunco Group that met every month for 35 years. She was a devoted Trail Blazer’s Fan and also enjoyed golf, bowling and watching her sons and her grandchildren play sports. She was there for every important event in their lives and will be dearly missed.

Shanna is survived by her son, Kevin (wife, Nacia) Hart of Oak Grove, brother, Robert O’Neill of Taylor, Utah and sister, Linda Coggins of Winston Salem, North Carolina along with 4 grandchildren. Her husband, Duane, son, Steven and her brother Dennis O’Neill all preceded her in death.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 1:00 pm at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham, Oregon. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10-4 pm also at the funeral home. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Contributions may be made in memory of Shanna to the Alzheimer’s Association.
